If you are anything like me, you are always looking for new and nutritious snacks for your kids (and yourself!). Our No-tella is the perfect alternative to the popular hazelnut spread and is full of superfoods! This No-tella is sweetened with our honey and contains so many health benefits.  It’s the perfect taste of sweet, buttery chocolate!  We like to enjoy it on toast, or use it as a dip for sliced apples.

This is a quick recipe to make, and it will last in your fridge for about a week or so… but you will probably eat it up within a few days!  We hope you enjoy!

There are so many health benefits to swapping out sugar and artificial sweeteners with honey!  Our unpasteurized honey is a wonderful immune-boosting food, and it also has many antioxidant properties. There is a reason they call it liquid gold!

Let’s talk about the cacao powder.  I’m not a nutritionist, however, I do know that there are so many health benefits to consuming cacao powder over cocoa powder.  In this recipe, I’m sure using cocoa powder would do the trick, BUT, if you want to keep this recipe full of superfood ingredients, stick to cacao powder!

No-tella Hazelnut Spread

It only takes 5 ingredients to make this delicious hazelnut spread!  The best part about these ingredients?  They all have amazing health benefits!

  • Author: Marlin Orchards & Garden Centre
  • Prep Time: 5 mins
  • Cook Time: 15 mins
  • Total Time: 20 mins
  • Yield: 500 ml jar 1x

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups of Hazelnuts
1/2 cup Marlin honey
1/4 cup cacao powder
1/3 cup coconut milk
1 Tbsp vanilla

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400F.  Start by roasting your hazelnuts.  Place them on a baking sheet in the oven and roast them for about 8-10 minutes.  Make sure to shake the baking sheet halfway through, so the hazelnuts don’t burn.  Remove them from the oven and let cool.

Once the hazelnuts have cooled, place them in a food processor and blend them until they come to a “peanut butter” type texture.  This will take about 10 minutes.  You’ll have to scrape down the sides during this time to make sure all of the hazelnuts are blended.

Stop the food processor and add in the honey, cacao powder, coconut milk, and vanilla.  Turn the food processor back on and mix until everything is blended together.  This will only take a couple of minutes.

Transfer the mixture to a jar and keep in the fridge.  Enjoy!
