Are you on team home cooked pumpkin, or team canned pumpkin?! 🎃 Both are great, but there is nothing like a freshly cooked pumpkin when they are in season! And it’s great bang for your buck! 💰 Our homegrown sugar pie pumpkins are only $2, and you get so much pumpkin purée from one! 🙌 Cook it, use some in your favourite recipes, and freeze the rest! I currently have one in the oven as we speak! I think I’m going to make pumpkin spice muffins, and then use the rest of the purée to make some sort of baby food for my 9 month old! Is anyone out there interested in some baby food ideas?! Let me know and I can put some fall recipes together for you! 👶🏼
Okay, back to cooking a pie pumpkin! 3 easy steps for you!
Step 1️⃣: cut the top off of the pumpkin, cut it in half and scoop out the seeds.
Step 2️⃣: place the pumpkin halves face down on a baking sheet and pop it into the oven at 375 F for about 45 mins – 1 hour (time will vary by the size of each pumpkin, but you cook it until it’s soft).
Step 3️⃣:once the pumpkin is cooled, scoop out the flesh, mash it up until smooth, and use it in your favourite recipes!
