Kale is one of the only things in my garden that I pick from early spring until late fall (as late as December!).  It is the green that keeps on giving!  I’m always trying new ways to serve it to my family.  Lately we’ve been enjoying kale chips – they take minutes to make and you can switch up the flavours to your liking!  I often stick them in the oven while I’m cooking our dinner, and the kids (and me!) like to snack on them until dinnertime.  The recipe that I am sharing with you today is the basic recipe – seasoned with a bit of salt.  But you can switch this up and add any other spices you may like.  You can add some dried chilli flakes for some heat, garlic powder for a bold flavour, or nutritional yeast to make them cheesy.  The options are endless!  We hope you enjoy!

Crispy Kale Chips

This basic crispy kale recipe is always a hit!  You can change it up every time you make it by adding new herbs or spices!

  • Author: Marlin Orchards & Garden Centre

Ingredients

Kale
Olive Oil
Salt (my favourite is pink Himalayan)

Instructions

Start by de-stemming and chopping the kale into medium size pieces.  Toss with a little bit of olive oil and salt.  Spread the kale out on a baking sheet and bake in the oven at 400 F until crispy (this takes about 5-7 minutes, and I flip it a few times during the cook time).  Eat and enjoy!

Notes

Other toppings to use on kale chips:
– nutritional yeast
– chilli flakes
– garlic powder
– rosemary
– pepper
